The owners of the Pheasant Inn have submitted a full planning application for conversion and subdivision of the existing public house into three houses: two four-bedroomed and one three-bedroomed. Casterton’s inn has been at the heart of the village since the 18th century, when its name was the George and Dragon, and this development would leave the village with no pub.
The planning application (reference number S/05/62) was lodged on 29th November and comments and objections can be sent to the Yorkshire Dales National Parks Authority up to 26th December, but the earlier the better. You can view the full application and plans here. If you are unhappy about the potential loss of Casterton’s only pub, it is important to submit your comments / objections to the planning authority.
There will be a public meeting at Casterton Village Hall at 19:00 on Tuesday 12th December if you would like to find out more.
Casterton parish council will decide on their course of action at the parish council meeting on 9th January in the village hall, starting at 19:30. All residents are welcome to attend the meeting.
