Reminiscences by William Makinson 1921 – 2007
William (everyone knew him as ‘Billy’’) was the third generation of his family to farm in Casterton, and had a wealth of knowledge of the village and its people going back to the beginning of the twentieth century. Fortunately he sat down with Miss Margaret Pilkington in 1993 and talked at length of his life, and these musings were subsequently transcribed by Jean Hamlett (see part 1). Billy subsequently gave Jean extra information on several occasions over 2005-2006 that she wrote up (see part 2).
