What is a village plan?
The purpose of a village plan is to identify and implement changes that residents believe will, in the broadest sense, make the village a better place. ‘Village’ also includes everything within the administrative parish boundary.
The village plan 2030
A group of village residents got together, with the support of Casterton Parish Council, to generate a new plan for the village through to 2030 in consultation with the community, to see what can be improved around the village to “Make Casterton a greater place to live, visit and work”.

Timeline
- The project team first met in December 2024 to agree a project outline.
- An initial introductory letter was distributed to all residents in February 2025.
- Using suggestions submitted by residents, an online and paper survey was circulated in April 2025. It comprised a total of 32 questions, a mixture of multiple choice and written suggestions.
- By the end of May 2025, an encouraging 96 responses were received, mostly online, a few in written form.
- A public meeting was held in September 2025 to present survey results and review possible projects arising from the survey.
- The final plan was published in October 2025.
