The Pheasant’s owners have re-submitted the planning application for change-of-use and conversion to residential property.

The new planning application (S/05/62A) can be viewed on the Yorkshire Dales National Park planing portal at https://planning.agileapplications.co.uk/yorkshiredales/application-details/40494 Comments/objections should be submitted as soon as possible (we only had three weeks to do so last time so please assume the same). If you submitted comments to the previous application (S/05/62) and do not have a copy of what you said you can request a copy from YDNP by emailing planning@yorkshiredales.org.uk

Casterton Community Hub Limited are hoping that the new government will restore the Community Ownership Fund—which was put on hold when the election was announced—or something equivalent in the budget and we have everything ready to make an application for grant funding towards a community purchase of The Pheasant with the remaining money sourced from a community share offer. However, for now, there are no sources of sufficient grant funding we can apply for.

The pub continues to be listed as an Asset of Community Value which – in theory – helps persuade the planning authority to refuse change-of-use.
