Simon Drakeford’s monthly articles, ‘Sketches’ of an aspect of Casterton, are primarily about locations within the village. Simon is happy to have received and to publish the first Guest Sketch, which has been written by Jean Hamlett. Jean and her husband Duncan bought their barn in 1973 and permanently moved into it in 1976 after converting it. Since that time, as well as having been very active in many local activities, Jean has extensively researched the history of Casterton.
Simon very much welcomes anybody to contribute their own writings about the history of Casterton as future Guest Sketches. If you would like to discuss contributing a Guest Sketch, please email the webmaster who will pass your request on to Simon.
In addition, as part of the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War One, Jean researched the stories of Casterton men who served during the war and survived. A copy of her research can be found in a ring binder at the back of Holy Trinity Church.
