Ridding’s Wood footpath cleared of fallen trees

Three fallen trees have been blocking the popular footpath through Ridding’s Wood for a long time because the landowner had not dealt with them. They have caused distress and inconvenience to walkers because two of the three were more or less impossible to walk around. Two rangers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park have now cleared a walking route through all three as well as others further along the same path.

The path leading south west from near the bottom end of the lake belonging to Casterton Grange has also been cleared of fallen trees. But please note that there is still a tall tree that has wedged above the path on this latter trail, so take care when passing by it (see picture). It will be removed when the ranger returns with specialist equipment.

Whenever residents find a public right of way blocked they should report it to YDNPA using the contact on the village website, or by alerting a member of the Parish Council.
