Posted on behalf of Casterton Parish Council.

Ever wondered how some ‘improvements’ happen in Casterton – a repaired stile, another litter bin, new safety advice for pedestrians?

Many of them happen because the Parish Council does its bit to improve the quality of life in our village. Part of your Council Tax is set by the Parish Council, and spent at their discretion to fund repairs and improvements.

Councillors are volunteers who are elected every 4 years, but if the council has a vacancy, as is the case now, additional councillors can be co-opted at any time.

Councillors generally attend 6 meetings each year and get involved in small projects according to their interests and abilities. As a councillor you would have the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile for the village and seeing first hand the improvements you have influenced.
