Tess Pike

Tess says: “The small market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is my home — the place where I come into land, the centre of my world…. but that world can be fast, furious and, at times, relentless.

My job is all about people and places: welcoming visitors from all over the world to Northern England, and accompanying people from Britain as they travel across the globe. I’m a Tourist Guide and Tour Manager, and I truly have the best job in the world.

For more than 30 years, I’ve been telling stories, bringing history to life, rising to unexpected challenges, and coping with all those holiday hiccups that inevitably come along the way. There have been moments of sheer joy, many, many tears of laughter and, occasionally, genuine tears.

Along the way, I’ve gathered a wealth of stories — the funny, the fascinating, the unexpected, and the downright challenging.

I’m looking forward to sharing some of those stories with you — the funny, the unexpected, the challenging and the unforgettable — and giving you a glimpse of what really goes on behind the scenes.”
