Casterton’s Open Gardens event will be on Sunday 9th June.

A map / guide to the gardens will be available from Casterton Village Hall, (or from Beech Cottage if you are walking from Kirkby Lonsdale). Cost £5 per person (cash please) which includes entry to the gardens and tea or coffee & cake at the Village Hall. We ask you not to bring dogs.

There are small & medium-sized gardens and some large unique ones that are truly amazing. We are grateful to the owners for allowing them to be open to the public for the first time.

Parking / Walking
Casterton Sedbergh Prep School has kindly agreed that visitors can use their car parks, at Holly Bush and opposite the school playing fields. As Casterton’s lanes are narrow and parking at individual gardens is limited, we ask people to park in one of these car parks and walk to the Village Hall and around the gardens.

Most houses are situated on narrow lanes with little traffic. Please walk in single file on the right hand side facing oncoming traffic where possible, use crossing points where available.

Warning
Gardens may have uneven paths, steps, slopes, ponds, greenhouse glass and spiky / poisonous plants. Surfaces can be slippery, especially if it has rained. Please wear suitable footwear (sensible shoes or trainers) and clothing. Take appropriate care and heed the advice of individual garden owners about any specific risks in their gardens. Children to be supervised at all times. Entry to all gardens must be at your own risk. In the event of extremely hot weather please carry water and use sunscreen.
