The audience at Casterton Village Hall on Wednesday evening was treated to a wonderful evening of “all things harp”. The Harps North West Ensemble of seven harp players performed a selection of pieces ranging from waltzes and reels to traditional Manx folk music.

We learned about the history of the harp, the many different methods of playing and the Royal Harpists, as well as the wonderful work Harps North West do to encourage people, young and old, to give harp playing a try.

The proceeds of the evening are being split between Harps North West and Casterton Village Hall.

The next events at the village hall are:

Race Night on Friday 27th March

Lost Cumbria on Film – a WI Open Meeting (all welcome) on Wednesday 1st April

Behind Enemy Lines (presented with the generous help of Highlights Rural Touring Scheme) on Saturday 25th April
