A recent planning application for the installation of a 25m lattice tower supporting 6 antennas, 4 transmission dishes, 2 equipment cabinets, 1 meter cabinet and ancillary development including a generator and associated fuel tank, fenced compound, hard standing, and an access track for the Shared Rural Network Project (i.e. rural 4G) on Hoggs Hill above Bullpot Farm has been refused by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Planning Authority. The decision document states: “In the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, the proposed development would result in significant harm to the scenic beauty and intrinsic character of this highly sensitive, remote and undeveloped National Park landscape by reason of the size, design and prominent siting of the lattice mast.”
For now Casterton Fell and Ease Gill will remain wild and undeveloped, although the applicant can appeal or reapply.
